Solar customers are always keen to understand how well they work in the UK, particularly in winter months. Our current summer of cloud, rain and lower than normal levels of natural tans has offered some interesting insight though.
June – August solar power generation is up by close to a ¼ compared to last year. This is because solar panels do not need direct sun to work, they use light, not heat. They actually reduce in efficiency (slightly) from about 25/26 degrees and higher.
If you are thinking about solar panels you might want to check online at the various sites showing solar radiation calculators, and other tools to estimate the number of panels you need. If you qualify for ECO4 funding though, your surveyor can provide you with figures based on the specifics of your property, and will advise you on the best solar system for your home.
