A ‘Sway’ away from plastic packaging

An innovative start-up in California has come up with a clever way of making plastic pellets from seaweed, with the hope of eliminating the need for plastic in packaging. Think about anything thin, clear or opaque, in a window or entire packaging.

The best part of this, is the products are home-compostable, unlike a lot of products we see right now. Hint – if the packaging doesn’t specifically say home-compostable, it probably needs industrial treatment to break down.

New ideas like Sway’s products are popping up all the time. As consumers, we can try and be more aware, and even write to our favourite brands and ask what they are doing to remove single-use plastic from their supply chain and packaging.
