What can I expect from my install?

Our installation partners always aim to make the process as smooth as possible and minimise disruption. Like any building works, the different stages will impact you and your household in different ways. Here’s a high level overview for you, looking at solid wall (stone, solid brick etc) properties, and those with cavity walls:

Solid wall
Week one – insulate.
This is the most impactful week of the job. Your installers will essentially build a narrow second wall on the inside of your walls, using timber frames and panel insulation. This is the best way to reduce heat loss, and give you that cosy feeling we all love. Expect normal builder sounds and activities, hammering, and dust generation. Your installers will protect your furnishings etc of course. 3-5 days, depending on the size and complexity. Topping up your loft or roof insulation will generally be done this week as well
Week two – heating.
For most customers, this means replacing radiators, possibly pipes, and installing your new heat pump. You’ll need space inside as well, for your water tank and buffer tank. Your installer can advise on this during your technical survey, or you can request i information prior to the install. Expect 3-4 days of work
Week three – solar panels.
The quick bit, expect 1-1.5 days, largely outside. You will likely have scaffolding set up prior to the install to adhere to health & safety regulations and protect your property.

Cavity wall
Week one – insulate.
An accredited team of Thermabead installers will map out your walls and create a plan to ensure your cavities are filled without cold spots, in line with manufacturing standards. They will drill holes in your walls, pump in the bonded beads, and then seal the holes. Nice and quick and easy. Your loft or roof will likely be topped up during this week as well.

Weeks two and three follow the solid wall examples.

Any tidying up, replacing of carpets (if relevant), reattaching cornices, finalising electrics, might be done as a final step. If you have any outstanding activities though, please contact your installer directly, or let us know. As always, we are here to help.
