Whatever your political persuasions, if you are reading this it is likely you have some interest in protecting the planet.
Under the new US leadership the world has seen even more of a decisive step back to the 1990s than most people predicted.
Key climate policy reversals will have an impact on everyone, the US is too big a polluter for it not to. They are also still one of the largest, most influential economies in the world: where they go, others follow.
As a direct contradiction to the last administration, the US has now:
- Left the Paris Climate Accord, which binds signatories to Co2 reductions, and avoiding 5+ degree temperature increases
- Put the break on land releases, permits, funding, and tax credits involving wind farms, electric vehicles, and clean energy
- Hit the gas peddle on land releases, permits and funding for fossil fuel exploration, extraction and use.
In contrast, the UK generated 37% of our energy from renewables in 2024, overtaking fossil fuels for the first time. Whatever your thoughts are about politics in Great Britain, that is an achievement we can all be proud of, and, we encourage you, to share that pride with others.
